Virgin Mobile Prepaid Cell Phones

Virgin Mobile originated in the United Kingdom but has recently introduced its services to the Unites States. You can use prepaid cell phones with Virgin’s network.

Plans: There are two types of plans provided by Virgin Mobile.

First, the pay by the minute pan which gives different minutes according to the value loaded onto the phone. $20 will get you 200 minutes where $30 gives 400 minutes and $50 gives you 1000 minutes. These minutes will be rolled over to the next month so long as new minutes are purchased within 30 days following the purchase of the last package. In total users are able to roll over up to a maximum of 5,000 minutes.

The monthly paid plans mimic traditional contract plans but are prepaid. Again there are different minutes for different costs: $24.99 gives you 200 anytime minutes and 500 night and weekend minutes (starting at 7pm); the $34.99 plan includes 300 anytime minutes as well as 1000 night and weekend minutes; the $49.99 plan includes 400 anytime minutes as well as unlimited nights and weekends, and the $59.99 plan includes 600 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, as well as unlimited mobile to mobile calls. You can also get completely unlimited calls at all times of day if you choose to purchase the $79.99 plan.

Pros: Virgin offers great choice by offering both pay as you go and monthly payment plans to rival any contract plans available. It also includes a toll free customer service number as well as customer service through email. Some of their phones include a large amount of airtime which basically covers the cost of the phone.

Cons: The website is not easy to navigate and can lead to the need to call customer service for advice.
