Boost Mobile Claims Big Prepaid Savings

Boost Mobile recently unveiled its highly competitive Unlimited prepaid cell phone plan, under which Boost users get unlimited text messaging, unlimited talk time, and unlimited data usage.  This quickly hit the radar of other wireless providers and resulted in Verizon’s foray into unlimited prepaid, and T-Mobile’s small San Francisco based testing of a somewhat similar plan.

It’s obvious that cellular phone companies are thinking differently than they used to when it comes to prepaid.  Tough economic times and consumer savviness has started to kick the door to prepaid phones open and companies know that, in order to compete, they probably need to start really exploring competitive prepaid options.

Boost Mobile took the initial leap and now, with Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile prepaid getting in on the whole “unlimited” thing, Boost is bringing the big ammunition: numbers.  More specifically, Boost is emphasizing the dollar amounts that customers may be able to save over the competition.  (The link goes to an article at Wireless Week.)

Boost claims the following:

Subscribers can save $695 a year over T-Mobile’s Unlimited prepaid plan ($99.99/month).

Boost Customers can save $42 a year over Cricket regional plans.

Boost prepaid users can save just under $150 per year over MetroPCS’ $45 Unlimited Nationwide Plan.

  1. Definitely a good deal! And now that they have finally added support for call waiting on iDEN prepaid, the offer is actually worth considering for “standard” users. It will be interesting to see what competitors do in response….
