It’s the same story in every market. As soon as people see the economic benefits of a product and realize that it is not that different or more limiting than the one they are accustomed to, they try it. This is happening with prepaid cell phones.
According to this article, “the era of cell phone penny-pinching is here.” That was a great quote so I had to post it here. A recent survey showed that many cellular phone owners will either be scaling back their plan options, their talk time, or their usage packages, with many even making the switch to prepaid.
Amazingly, nearly one in five Americans who now use prepaid say they switched to it from a contract based plan within the last five months. We will only see more and more people moving over to the “other side” as time progresses and people realize they don’t need all the bells and whistles as well as paying for a couple hundred extra minutes they aren’t using anyway.
