Economy Down, Prepaid Phone Sales Up

As people increasingly look for ways to curb their spending in these difficult times, prepaid cell phone sales continue to increase.  Sure, prepaid is a small overall part of the wireless market, but it is growing as more and more people see the benefits this kind of phone plan offers.

When looking for a prepaid or pay as you go plan, you want to consider a few factors that this article points out.  First of all, figure out how many minutes you use per month.  This should give you a good estimate on how much talk time you will need to purchase on a prepaid plan.

Secondly, you need to be aware that you generally have to purchase a new handset when you sign up for a prepaid plan.  So this is a cost you should factor into your calculations.

You also want to consider your coverage area.  You may be able to find a great deal on a T-Mobile or Boost Mobile phone, only to find out that T-Mobile’s network is awesome in New York, but spotty as a dalmation in California.

It doesn’t have to be a ridiculously exhaustive research effort if you don’t want it to be.  You can compare plans quite easily and find other important information at BillShrink.com.

For a great deal on a prepaid phone, check out Tracfone’s offer of Free Double Minutes for Life.  Tracfone is seen as a value provider in the prepaid market and tends to run some very attractive promotions for those who want to save on their cell phone bills.
