Boost Mobile made a splash earlier this year when it released its prepaid Monthly Unlimited plan that gives subscribers unlimited talk time, data usage, internet use, and text all for $50 a month. And this is a prepaid plan.
In some ways, Boost has to make up for its weaker network, but this was a serious and bold step in the right direction. Now, Boost Mobile has added worldwide text to its unlimited plan. Before you get too excited, you need to know that it costs an extra $10 per month for the service. The company claims that it is targeting the Latino market, many of whom have relatives in other countries and do not want a contract phone.

This is not the most attractive offer in the world for the simple fact that it brings the cost of the monthly prepaid cell phone bill up by ten bucks. However, for people who do not want a contract phone but who want to communicate with friends and family in other countries, $10 a month is a huge savings over calling the same relatives on the phone. For certain Boost Mobile users, this may be a compelling add-on. Boost is getting quite aggressive in its fight for the demographics it believes it can serve well.
It will be interesting to see how many new subscribers the company pulls in this year and how long it keeps them.
