Walmart Launches Common Cents Mobile

Walmart’s new brand of prepaid cell phones, Common Cents Mobile, will launch soon and will be offered in 700 store locations.

Common Cents Mobile is a very low-end provider, which means the cell phone selection will not be that good, but phones will be cheap (between $20 and $60).

One interesting thing the company claims it will do is to “round minutes down.”  So, instead of being charge for two minutes of talk time after a 1.3 minute conversation, subscribers to Common Cents Mobile will only be charged one minute.

Talk time will cost seven cents a minute and text messages will cost seven cents each as well.
