Samsung R355C Review: Net10 and Straight Talk Phone

samsung r355cWith more and more mobile phone manufacturers entering the market, and coming up with new devices and the incessant increase in demand, technology is becoming more accessible.

Today, we would find economically priced cell phones with features and services that would have cost an arm and a leg just a decade ago – real “value for cost” cell phones. One of these phones is the Samsung r355c aka “QWERTY”, a very nice phone that can be used with two of the top prepaid wireless providers: Net10 and Straight Talk (if you want to read a comparison of the two TracFone-owned services, click the link above).

Let’s get right into the review of the Samsung r355c prepaid phone.

The Samsung r355c is a low budget cell phone with a slim and sleek look, which tends to make it popular among the younger crowd. Another similar phone is the QWERTY keypad, which is quite a rage in the lower budget models, because lower budget models have not been able to satisfy customers with their touch screen models – of course that could change with the Samsung Champ, which offers full touch screen functionalities but little else – at a very low price.

The Samsung r355c does not have much to offer when it comes to the camera quality. It has a VGA camera (1.3 MP), with no flash, so you should not forget your handycam during those family trips yet.  Still, if what you’re looking for is a basic but sturdy cell phone that will not cost you a lot and will help you save money with an affordable prepaid phone plan, then this phone is a good option.

Net10 Phone Samsung R355cThe Samsung r355c also offers music playing functionality and web browsing. Music quality is as good as one would get in a starter range cell phone. The screen is big enough, though the resolution leaves a lot to be desired at a mere 176 x 140, to make the QWERTY keypad and the GPRS connection worth it.

It also offers Bluetooth connectivity and has SD card support, allowing users to store their data and media on a separate card.

Keeping in mind the above features it is obvious that the Samsung r355c is targeted towards the youth and people who want the ultimate value for money. Also, the phone, though compared to the Blackberry, is not as bulky as the BB. Of course, it does not have the features and services that one might get from the Blackberry, but then this is a starter range cell phone.

The Samsung r355c seems to have conquered that bane of all economic cell phones – battery life. Of course, the fact that the device does not offer a cartload of features helps too, but with this phone you can be sure that you would not running to a chargespot if you want to call someone, when you do not have a  charger at hand.

The Samsung r355c is available on Net10 and Straight Talk prepaid plans. It’s a good phone. Have a look at the deals these companies offer.  It may be a good option to consider.  See another review of the LG 620G prepaid phone if you want to read about another low-cost, high value phone.
