Straight Talk Phone Update: There is a new phone in the Straight Talk lineup–and it’s a good one. The Samsung Galaxy Precedent is the first Straight Talk Android phone. It’s a touch screen fully functional smart phone. Straight Talk is now Android-powered and it’s a good thing. The Precedent clocks in at $149 for the phone with NO CONTRACT. This makes it less expensive than the other three smart phones currently available from this company. The only other one I would consider is the Nokia E5, which has some really nice features.

Popular prepaid phone provider Straight Talk started out with phones that operate only on Verizon-based CDMA coverage. However, recently they have added GSM services based phones to their offer. The first two added to Straight Talk were Samsung t401g and 420g, available only at Wal-Mart but now, another GSM handset, the LG 620G Straight Talk phone has made its way to the website and brings great savings to GSM customers.

With the LG 620G Straight Talk phone, some features can be accessed while the phone is closed as well as when it is opened. This is always a nice possibility considering that you will be able to launch your basic mobile browser, observe your contact list, view pending text messages, take pictures with your 1.3mp camera with zoom and listen to the MP3 player or FM tuner.
As far as MP3 player is considered, access to good music is available thanks to the built in MP3 player and microSD card slot. By the way, these features are well worth the price of the phone but be aware, that the headset jack is in the form of a microUSB connector so listening the music might require purchasing an adapter or a special headset. Having an onboard FM tuner is quite a nice feature. Actually, it is the only Straight Talk phone that has this feature.
One of those things that you are used to and can be a problem if not available, is not having the volume rocker on the side of the phone. That makes it hard to adjust the volume in-call. But if you have your volume set to your own needs, this shouldn’t be a huge problem.
The LG 620G Straight Talk phone is the right choice for you if you are looking for a GSM phone that is easy to use, attractive, affordable and above all available with Straight Talk’s prepaid plans. There are quite a few extras on this phone which are well worth the price.
