Verizon Wireless just recently released two prepaid data plans for some 3G smartphones, which comes as good news to fans of high end, high functional phones, and prepaid service.
The first option costs $30 per month and gives unlimited use of data to users of some 3G smartphones. Owners of multi-media phones may be interested in the $10 package which comprises 25 megabytes of data usage.
The $30 prepaid plan will work with the following phones: LG Env Touch, LG Chocolate Touch, Samsung Alias 2, and Casio Exilim to name a few.
This creates a gateway into the higher end cell phone use (ie. surfing the web, checking email, getting apps) for lower end prepaid phone users, while allowing them to stay prepaid.
It’s an interesting development and really shows how much Verizon wants to court new users to buy its data packages. The company doesn’t want to limit its users–in fact, it want’s to get as many people using their data services as possible since it sees a lot of its future there.
