Net10 Stops Unlimited Service as Straight Talk Wireless Takes Off
Posted by admin in net10 prepaid cell phones, straight talk on December 24, 2009
In the wake of the recent success of Straight Talk Wireless, it looks like a casualty is unlimited service from Net10 (another TracFone company), as the value provider of prepaid service has discontinued its unlimited plan.
When it was released, Net10’s package was competitive and won quite a few cost-conscious and market-savvy devotees. Unfortunately, this plans is no longer available and the relevance of Net10 is faltering, but Straight Talk Wireless is there to pick up the pieces.
Straight Talk’s $45 per month plan will get you unlimited talk time, unlimited texts, unlimited web browsing, and unlimited 411 calls. It’s a solid deal and better than the Net10 deal. It just makes sense that the older plan has gone the way of the dodo, although some still find value in some of the company’s plans.

Pros: This is a very simple service, great for those who may not understand more complicated cell phone plans or do not know exactly which plans would be the best for them. You can make as many or as few calls as you need all with the same rate of 10 cents per minute.
All plans include voicemail, caller waiting and ID at no extra charge, and nationwide long distance calls are included in their rates. There are no additional roaming charges.
Using a simple pricing system, such as the one Net10 provides, avoids the building costs of daily access fees that most other phone companies will charge for each day the phone is used.
Cons: Coverage is not available in all areas for the Net10 service, and there is no discount for weekend and night time minutes since all minutes are charged at the same rate. Net10 also does not offer mobile web access. If you want to make international calls you will have to get a special International service activated by customer services.
