T-Mobile prepaid cell phones and wireless plans are a good option for the customer who wants T-Mobile cell phone features and quality minus the hassles of a long-term contract. T-Mobile To Go prepaid plans give you all the freedom that prepaid plans have come to be known for–no contract to sign, no credit check to undergo, no early termination fees. Ever.

In addition, you have the added bonus of not having to deal with unpredictable (and often confusing) cell phone bills at the end of the month.

You can choose the handset to use from a variety of well-known cell phone makers like Motorola and Nokia. The popular Motorola Razr V3 can be used on the To Go network. It is a stylish phone with a lot of features great for the modern day user. Another option is the Nokia 2610, which has a basic design perfect for everyday use.

Below, you will find details for both prepaid wireless plans offered by this company.

T-Mobile Pay As You Go plan:

Per Minute Costs -

$10 for 30 minutes of talk time.

$25 for 130 minutes.

$50 for 400 minutes.

$100 for 1000 minutes.

In addition, if you refill $100 or more you get 15% more minutes on all of your refills. Your balance will last for a year. You have no daily charge for this plan.

T-Mobile Pay By the Day Plan:

Per Minute Costs -

Unlimited Nationwide Calling from 7pm to 7am. You also speak to any other T-Mobile user for no charge. For all other domestic calls, you pay 10 cents per minute.

You also have a daily charge of $1.00 which you pay for every day you use your phone. If you are a daily user or talk on your phone frequently, this charge may add up. But you also want to keep in mind that you have unlimited calling between 7 and 7, and you don’t pay for conversations with other T-Mobile numbers.

Which T-Mobile Prepaid Plan Should I Choose?

The answer to this depends on your phone habits. If you talk on your phone a lot between the hours of 7:00 pm and 7:00 am–like for instance if you go out at night a lot or have an active social life–then you may want to consider the Pay By the Day Plan. This may be the cheapest option for you because you will pay a one dollar fee per day, but have unlimited calling during those hours.

Also, if you have friends or family on the same network, you talk for free. This is one of the easiest ways to save money on cell phone bills and many people take advantage of the free in-network minutes. Well, they aren’t exactly free, but you get the idea.

What you need to be careful with this plan is that each additional minute costs ten cents and will add up ridiculously quick during the normal daytime hours when the unlimited nationwide calling isn’t in effect.

If you are a “light” cell phone user, then it may make more sense to go with the Pay As You Go plan and just purchase the amount of minutes you are planning to use and use them sparingly. $50 for 400 minutes is a decent deal–not an amazing one. If you have used a pay as you go service before, you know that you can use up your minutes very fast. On this plan, when you buy minutes they last for 90 days until they expire.

This type of plan is best for people who use their talk time sparingly or strictly for emergency use.

It is hard to make an overall recommendation because every person’s situation is different. The best thing you can do when looking into prepaid cell phones is to think about what you need in a wireless plan.

One way to do this is to pull out your cellular phone bills for the last three months and see where you are spending too much money and where you can cut additional costs. Are you paying for too many minutes? Do you fall into the light-user category of less than 200 minutes per month?

Once you identify your habits that stay consistent month to month, then you will have a good idea what you need and what you don’t need. You will notice consistencies and should be able to make a better decision on your prepaid plan. T-Mobile prepaid may be an option for you if one of the two plans fits your habits.

Now is your last chance to get out of your Sprint contract without paying an early termination fee.

The wireless service provider will be raising an administrative fee from $.75 to $.99, which means that you can cancel your contract with no fee. So, if you are not happy with the service or are looking to save money on your phone bill, now might be the time to look into prepaid cell phones.

Legally, the company has to let you out of the contract. Just be persistent and keep asking. If a company rep gives you a hard time, ask to talk to a manager. Or start yelling!!

Even if you like Sprint, maybe you could be getting a better deal with a Sprint prepaid phone. Also, have a look at T-Mobile Prepaid.

T-Mobile prepaid cell phones are a good and popular alternative for people looking to avoid the downsides of contract cell phone plans. T-Mobile has pretty competitive rates. One criticism of this company is that service is “spotty” in some areas of the US, particularly in small towns.

Another is that the customer service is bad. It is totally based on personal experience. I find that those who have more information before they purchase a cell phone or choose a plan and know what they are getting into, have a better overall experience.

In other words, if you have the information up front that will help you make the best cellphone choice for your particular situation, the better off you will be.

These are the basic steps to getting started with a T-Mobile prepaid cell phone. (Click the link to read a review of the four plans available).

1) Find a T-Mobile retailer or visit the website.

2) Review the available plans to find the one that works best for you. If you purchase a T-Mobile starter kit, you will receive a phone and some startup minutes.

3) Add any other “extras” you may be interested in, like text messaging or games.

4) You will receive instructions on how to activate your new cell phone. Follow the steps and soon your phone will be live and you will be given a phone number as well as an email address through the company.

5) Refill minutes as necessary. You can purchase talk time through T-Mobile’s website, at a store, or over your phone. When you buy the 100 dollar refill, you automatically get enrolled in the Gold Rewards program, which gives you 15 percent more minutes for each card you buy. The 100 dollar card gives you 1000 minutes, which includes the 15 percent bonus.

6) If you want to discontinue your service, just use up your minutes and don’t buy refill minutes. Your service will be cancelled automatically.

Here are a few things you can do to save money on your cell phone bill.

1) Look over your plan minutes. Are there areas you can be saving money? Are you paying for minutes above and beyond your monthly plan? Are you sending too many text messages? If you are, you may be able to cut costs by upgrading your cell phone plan. If you are a frequent texter, pay extra for unlimited monthly texts.

2) Don’t pay for cell phone insurance. If your phone breaks or becomes damaged, go to eBay and search for a cheap replacement to last until you get your “new every two” phone.

3) If you are signing up for a new phone plan, try to avoid sign-up fees. Tell a customer service rep that you won’t sign up unless they waive the initial fee. I have heard cases of this working before. Give it a shot.

4) Ditch the contract phone and get a no commitment prepaid cell phone. Prepaid cell phones are used only by about 15% of all wireless users, but they typically save money over standard cell phone plans.

5) Talk Less. Sort of kidding on this one, but if you use fewer minutes (especially on a prepaid plan) you will save money.

Some good companies to look at are T-Mobile, AT&T, and Tracfone.

It isn’t always clear which codes are legitimate, which ones will work, and when they expire. I have searched online for a good place to find these codes and I’ve found a couple of places that have frequently updated and verified free tracfone airtime codes. In other words, these are codes that have actually worked for people.

If you are looking to save money on your cell phone bill, prepaid options can cut your bills considerably. If you use your cell phone minutes sparingly–around 100 to 200 minutes per month–then prepaid/pay as you go options are great for you. Many people pay for more minutes than they use in a month.

Why not have the option to only pay for the minutes you use?

Here are three places you can find tracfone promotional codes.

This is site run by a guy who has been using Tracfone prepaid cell phones for over five years. He knows so much about the company that he even published an ebook about how to save money with tracfone. He has a very useful and frequently updated chart of tracfone airtime codes.

Find more Tracfone promotion codes brought to you by Go4Prepaid. This is a website where you can get the inside scoop on the prepaid wireless industry and read phone reviews.

Here is another list of promo codes with expiration dates and with reported accounts of when they have worked. It is kept current.

Between these three places, you should be able to find codes that work and will give you some extra talk time.

So why don’t more people use them?

If you’re looking to cut down your cell phone bill, then it may behoove you to consider a prepaid cell phone plan.

One of the reasons prepaid cell phones still have not officially “caught on” with the mainstream is that most cell phone users do not know about the possible savings they can get with prepaid cellular service.

The reason people don’t know the facts about prepaid isn’t because only small companies offer this kind of service, because clearly the major carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Alltel offer prepaid services.

Smaller companies like Virgin Mobile (which uses the Sprint Network) and Tracfone (which operates on AT&T’s network) also offer competitive or better plans.

It’s just that the major carriers provide these services very quietly because their other services are so much more profitable, especially when considering the fact that many people locked into cell phone contracts don’t use all of their minutes each month. This seems to be changing as consumers are looking for creative ways to cut down on expenses. Paying for 500 minutes a month when you only use 200 could be one of the first effective cuts.

Prepaid cell phones are a good idea for people who use low levels of talk time. If you use around 100 minutes per month, you could be paying as little at $15 a month, instead of having to pay for a higher minimum of minutes with a contract cellphone plan. So why aren’t people lining up to prepay for their cell usage?

Again, most people just don’t know they have the option or aren’t familiar enough with the plans they can get. People I know just don’t want to spend the time to learn how prepaid plans work, or they think it sounds like too much work to manage their own minutes each month, or they want the free phone when they resign their wireless contract in two years.

So they continue to pay for minutes they don’t use. It’s really an issue of “not knowing” and being more familiar with the traditional plans we see advertised on tv or on websites.

We buy what is most heavily advertised to us—and prepaid is not it. The big companies push their large contract plans and the smaller companies like Tracfone and Cricket Cell Phones don’t have the same kind of ad budgets. But this is changing as the market gets more competitive and cell phone users get savvier about their options.

If you’ve been to Europe in the past several years, then you know that prepaid wireless isn’t the exception—it’s the rule. The U.S. is catching on—slowly—as many people realize that they are overpaying for the cell phone plans.

Here is a quick list of the benefits of prepaid cell phones.

- Save Money

- Control how many minutes you use (and pay for) each month.

- No termination fee.

- No contract.

- No commitment.

- No credit check.

- Free minutes – As a way for the smaller companies like Tracfone to compete, they often offer special promotions where you can win free talk time with a purchase.

These are some reasons why people don’t go prepaid.

- They don’t know the facts.

- They are caught in the “new every two” cycle, where they get a phone upgrade every two years if they re-sign their contract.

- They are more familiar with the heavily advertised contract plans from companies like T-Mobile and Verizon (which coincidentally also have prepaid plans—but you haven’t heard of them have you?)

- They don’t want to pay a termination fee.

Recently there has been a huge shift in wireless usage. Many of us are choosing to ditch our contract plans and to go with prepaid cell phones. This may seem absurd to you when the contract plans are offering such seemingly great deals. However, when you take a little time to look at what’s available you will find that you may be able to save money by switching to prepaid today.

Price

While many contract plans are marketed on the fact that they are cheaper, the fact is that most prepaid plans offer much more for your money. Even though getting x amount of minutes for a set monthly fee may seem like a great deal, recent surveys have shown that 20% of minutes on average go unused each month on contract plans. That’s just like throwing money down the drain.

Not only this, but contract plans include many hidden charges and expenses that you probably didn’t account for when taking out your plan. Again, contract users will end up paying 20% more than they expected each month, which can easily add up to hundreds of dollars a year.

No Surprises

Prepaid plans offer no surprises. That is, there are absolutely no hidden charges or fees. Why? Because there is no monthly bill. You pay for all of you phone usage upfront, meaning that you know exactly what you are paying for and exactly how much you want to spend.

No More Wasted Minutes

You will never waste your minutes again, because you will only be paying for minutes and text messages that you actually use. When you load money onto your phone, all calls will be deducted until the money eventually runs out and you simply load more on. That way, all money is saved until you actually spend it and they only usually expire after several months of non-use.

Anyone Can Get Prepaid Cell Phones

Contract plans have always come with the hassle of credit checks as well as being tied down to one service for the duration of the contract. This means that those who had bad credit ratings, for whatever reasons, were refused cell phone service.

With prepaid plans absolutely anyone can sign up. This is because you pay upfront so there is no risk. This also means you can spend money only when you need to, and you can quit your provider whenever you want.

Conclusion

These are the reasons why most people are now dissatisfied with current contract phone plans and are now choosing prepaid equivalents. In many cases these prepaid plans work out better value as well as being much simpler to set up.

You can still choose from all of the latest phones at reasonable prices and great offers. There is also great service, often extremely low roaming rates and special offers relating to extras such as broadband.

In fact prepaid plans are now becoming so popular that contract plans could fade altogether within a few years. Due to this fact, all of the major wireless providers are now offering great prepaid plans which can help you to save money.

Jump Mobile is a wireless service provider targeting the youth audience. However, its low rates are sure to attract a wide base of customers. Jump offers prepaid cell phone service in 22 states.

Plans: The Jump Mobile plans are based on adding dollars to your account, rather than adding a certain number of minutes as with similar prepaid phone services. As you make calls then your money will be deducted as you go along, and the call costs vary according to where you are making your calls from.

Calls made within the local service area are charged at 10 cents a minute, and incoming calls are all free. However, once you leave this local area the call charges will go up to 69 cents a minute – and this is the same both for incoming and outgoing calls.

In the local calling area all text messages are free, whether incoming or outgoing. However, these are charged at 10 cents each (incoming and outgoing) when outside of this local calling area. International text messaging is also offered by Jump from the low price of 10 cents each. Picture messages are currently not available with Jump Mobile prepaid cell phones.

Pros: Jump Mobile users will benefit from the fact that, in their local area, they can receive calls for free and send or receive text messages for free. When making calls in the local area, the outgoing charge is also extremely low and easy to keep track of by the fact it is simply deducted from a dollar balance. It is very clear whether you are making local or roaming calls, which means it is even less likely that you will overspend.

Cons: Once you are outside of your local area then the calls are much more expensive. This will be a downside to anyone who needs to travel often. There is also only a small selection of phones available on the Jump Mobile network. When looking for cell phones on their website, you will find extremely few available. However, they are in different price categories meaning that all budgets should be satisfied.

When purchasing airtime dollars there is also a fast expiration date, depending upon the amount you buy. When you purchase 10 dollars they will expire extremely quickly – after only 7 days – which is quicker than many other prepaid services. However, 20 dollars will expire after 15 days, 30 dollars after 30 days and 50 dollars after 90 days.
