Straight Talk by TracFone A Winner in Prepaid Phones

Straight Talk by Tracfone is a prepaid phone plan that is a clear winner in a marketplace that is increasingly becoming crowded by prepaid offers. You may have seen some of these unlimited offers that have been popping up with greater frequency in the past several months–and truly, there are some good deals to be had.

What is Straight Talk?

Straight Talk is a brand of prepaid phones created by TracFone. The idea behind them was to create an affordable prepaid alternative for people who want a cheap cell phone plan on a respectable network that isn’t going to drop every other call. Straight Talk runs as an MVNO on Verizons’s strong network, so it’s a very good option for people across the nation.

You are assured great coverage all over the country and few dropped calls. There are two plans available. One is an unlimited plan and the other is for 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts per month. The cost $45 and $30 respectively.

What are Unlimited prepaid plans?

Unlimited plans provide with just what you would expect: unlimited use of your phone. You typically receive limitless minutes of talk time, so you never can “go over” your minutes, and limitless text messages. In the case of Straight Talk, you also get unlimited web browsing, which is a huge plus!

Boost Mobile ‘Monthly Unlimited’ Plan Details

Boost Mobile is now offering a new $50 ‘Monthly Unlimited’ cell phone plan.  Boost Mobile is the prepaid phone division of Sprint.  Here are the details of the new plan.

Unlimited talk
Unlimited text including multi-media messaging
Unlimited web access
Unlimited walkie-talkie
Voicemail, long distance and nationwide network included
No hidden fees, no contracts and no credit checks
No roaming charges
Low rates for international calls and international walkie-talkie
Boost Mobile is calling this plan the ultimate plan for those who don’t want to be held down by a contract.

Who Would Benefit from Boost Mobile’s Prepaid Monthly Unlimited Plan?

If you are a light cell phone user (200 minutes of talk time per month), then this plan is not for you.  You would be better off looking at a plan by Tracfone prepaid or T-Mobile prepaid because you do not use your phone enough to utilize what this package offers.

This plan is for the cell phone user who is on the phone all the time.  For this reason, it is skewed towards younger users, who are more likely to surf the web, text, and be in constant contact with their friends all via their cell phone.  Boost Mobile has a pretty all-encompassing plan here, which may make sense for those who use their phone a lot.

$50 is not a bad price for unlimited text and nationwide calls and is probably better than similar contract plans from other companies like Verizon Wireless.  One of the big differences (which may or may not be that big of a deal) is there is no contract for this Boost Mobile ‘Monthly Unlimited’ Plan.

I am not sure if it makes sense to switch providers in order to get this plan (because it completely depends on your phone usage and you will have to buy a new phone), but if you are already a Boost Mobile subscriber, it is probably worthwhile to look into it.  I can see a lot of happy parents switching their text-happy teenagers over to this very competitive plan.
