Samsung r451c Straight Talk Phone Review

The Samsung r451c is a recent addition to the Straight Talk Wireless lineup and a welcome one at that.

The r451c is a slider phone with a full qwerty with a sleek modern look. This Samsung model is a good option to use on a prepaid plan from Straight Talk Wireless.

For $144.99, you can purchase the phone and your first month of unlimited service.  Every month thereafter, you will only have to pay $45 for unlimited monthly service, which includes unlimited calling, text messages, 411 calls, and yes, even unlimited web browsing.  It’s one of the best deal in prepaid especially for people who make a high volume of calls or send frequent texts.

If you are a more moderate cell phone user, you will probably be able to make due with the $30 All You Need plan from Straight Talk, which is an incredible value.  For $30 you get 1,000 monthly minutes, 1,000 texts every month, and 30 mb of data usage, which is substantial.  You even get unlimited 411 calls which saves at least a buck a call.  For the phone and this plan, you will pay $129.99.

Learn more about this phone and your plan options at the official Straight Talk Website.  Since all phones are not offered in every part of the country, you will have to enter your zip code into a field to see what is available in your area for the Straight Talk plans.

When you arrive at the site, find the “Shop” button at the top left of the page.  Highlight that button and then select “Phones.”  At that point, you will be asked to input your zip code.  Once you do that, you will be able to see all the wonderful Straight Talk phones available to you.  You will see the Samsung r451c with both of the plans mentioned above.

It should look like this:

Prepaid Wireless Providers Prosper

In this weak economy, more and more prepaid providers are winning market share in the cut throat business of cell phone communication.

As people increasingly look for ways to trim the fat out of their expenses, they become more open to “alternative” prepaid cell phone plans that give them more control over the call time they use and purchase.  May of these plans, like the ones from Tracfone and Jitterbug (which is designed for seniors) are very simple and have limited add-ons.

There are almost two camps of cell phone users out there right now.  One is the smartphone set who want to essentially run their lives from their cell phone/PDA/personal computer.  The other group is the more frugal person who wants to save a little bit of money on their cell phone bill.  Of course, there are teens in the middle and that’s why Boost Mobile is around with their unlimited monthly plan.

Prepaid plans have emerged as a viable option for people who do not live on their cell phones.

New Prepaid Cell Phone Rumor: T-Mobile to release Nokia 1661

nokia1661Late last week, we learned that T-Mobile will release the slick Nokia 1661 later this month to work on its prepaid cell phone plans. There wasn’t much by the way of details, though so we assumed (that’s what we get for assuming) it would be a low-end phone for postpaid. However, that may not be true.

Website Mobile Burn has a rumor about T-Mobile’s 2009 plans in which they mention that the 1661 “will apparently be available for the prepaid side of the market on April 29.” This is very good news indeed for the prepaid market.

There’s still no official pricing details, though that should come very soon. It’s not a super fancy phone, but its a nice design, and more choices for prepaid is always a good thing. It’s a basic candybar style phone with an FM radio built in and a nice 128×160 display. It does have a bright “torch” light built in which apparently lets you cut through the darkness whenever needed.

As we’ve said before, more choices are good.
