T-Mobile’s New Prepaid Samsung Phone

T-Mobile has some prepaid phones that are very affordable and offer pretty good functionality.  The company also has some really cheap, low-end phones.

It makes sense for T-Mobile prepaid to have this kind of handset available to its customers because pay as you go customers are generally looking for one thing–they want to save money.

T-Mobile has added a new prepaid phone to its lineup.  It is the very basic yet functional Samsung T139.  This is not a very exciting release per se, but it is another affordable phone for T-Mobile prepaid users to think about.

Other recent releases are Samsung T949 and T669.

T-Mobile Prepaid Blackberry Plans Released

T-Mobile will allow the popular smartphone Blackberry to be used as a prepaid phone on its service plans.  This move to a prepaid Blackberry by T-Mobile comes a few days before the holiday season kicks off.  You might call it perfect timing, especially in an economy where prepaid is starting to look really good and the competition in that space is quite tough.

FierceWireless reports that the “T-Mobile Complete” package gives subscribers the choice between various handsets, with a price that includes the first month of service.  The lowest priced handset is just under $60.

These unlimited “no-contract” service plans will start at $50 per month and range up to $79.  Some of the phones T-Mobile customers will be able to choose from include Blackberry Curve 8520, Samsung Gravity, and the Samsung t229.

The phone handsets are not that cheap–not that you would expect to get a bargain basement deal on a Blackberry.  Blackberry Curve 8530 retails at $299 (which you have to add to the monthly fee for the plan you choose to get a real feel for what this plan will cost you).

T-Mobile has slowly been focusing more on the prepaid sector of the market and has seemed to methodically moving with a new cohesive game plan.  A few months ago, the wireless provider released one new unlimited prepaid phone plan called “Even More Plus.”

Even More Plus provides subscribers (who pay the no-contract monthly fee) with unlimited voice, text, and web browsing for around $80 per month.  For about twenty bucks less, T-Mobile users can opt out of the unlimited web browsing feature and just have the talk and voice options.

It was interesting to see the details of this new prepaid plan because it is not as competitive as people would have hoped.  Sure, T-Mobile has what you might call a loud voice in the cell phone industry and can easily get its message out to a lot of people which is part of the game, but still, with competition from Straight Talk (TracFone’s value prepaid brand with a $45 Unlimited plan that runs on Verizon’s MVNO) you would expect something a little more aggressive.

If you are a prepaid user that wants a prepaid Blackberry, it’s your lucky day.  You can buy the T-Mobile Complete package at Best Buy and Wal-Mart.

T-Mobile Takes New Nokia 1661 Phone

T-Mobile’s prepaid cell phone service will have a new handset added to its roster with the Nokia 1661.  This model is a low end phone in the candy bar shape.

nokia prepaid phoneNo prices have been released, but most people agree that this phone will be cheap.  It’s another addition for T-Mobile users to choose from, especially as the price won’t scare away the dedicated subscriber base who tend to want affordable options.

The Nokia handset has one interesting element that hasn’t been seen too much on cell phones (except probably in Asia, where the phones are pretty advanced and over the top)–the head of the phone doubles as a flashlight.  I can definitely see the use of this option as sometimes I flip my phone open to use the light from the screen as a light when it’s dark.  Still, this phone is primarily just for making good old fashioned phone calls.
